Coding of Up ! Application System

• C--.
  C-- language, which is a subset of the C language, fitting the Ansi and Posix norms and not using the standard Application Program Interface, except the ones managing system resources.
  The C-- language is thus 100 % portable on all platforms, from the smart phone to proprietary Ibm mainframe. Less than one percent of code depends of a platform or a third-party technology.
  Further more, since the C-- language is very simple, we are mastering its conversion in assembly by the compiler. All of the C-- files are introduced to the compiler as if they were C++ files and in the most restricted mode for checking.
  3 100 source files in C-- are written by hand. 1 600 source files in C-- are generated automatically.
  
• Assembly.
  The assembly is used for the most frequent used callsets. We estimate thus that a program spents 10 % of its user time in this critical code on average. This allows to improve dramatically the performance.
  15 sources files in assembly are written by hand.
  
• C++.
  The C++ language is used when the interface with third-party technical or vertical software is more reliable by this mean in comparison with the one with the C language.
  50 source files in C++ are written by hand. 500 source files in C++ are generated automatically.
  
• Java.
  The Java language is used when the interface with third-party technical or vertical software is more reliable by this mean in comparison with the one with the C language.
  10 source files in Java are written by hand. 250 source files in Java are generated automatically.
  
• Up ! 5GL.
  The Up ! 5GL language is used to integrate components.
  310 source files in Up ! 5GL are written manually. 2 170 source files in Up ! 5GL are translated automatically.
  
• Html.
  11 200 files in Html make the business, user-oriented and technical documentation of Up ! Application System. They are written by hand and formated automatically.
  
• Other files.
  Around 500 other files are used to manage or to set up the configuration for the development or the exploitation of Up ! Application System.
  

Up ! Application System is developed on:

• Windows Xp with Visual C++ from Microsoft.
• Then recompiled, even adapted, in an incremental way, on Linux 2.6 with Gnu C++.
• Then recompiled, even adapté, by version-revision, on all other platforms with Gnu C++ preferably.

In addition to our test cases, Up ! Application System is checked with:

• Application Verifier from Microsoft.
• Valgrind from Linux.
• The tracker of lost objects from Up ! Object Management System.
• The tracker of lost resources of Up ! System.

Up ! Application System is then profiled with Up ! Profiler.
